Cladtek Marks Earth Day with a CSR Program: Mangrove Planting and Clean-up in Batam
Batam, 1 May 2024 – Cladtek reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by organising a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for Earth Day. In collaboration with Akar Bhumi Indonesia, Cladtek conducted a Mangrove Planting and Coastal Clean-up programme at the Sei Beduk Protected Forest, Batam, Riau Islands, on 30 April 2024.
Cladtek’s Group Environmental, Sustainability and Governance Manager, Bionolla Shandiana, emphasised the importance of concrete environmental actions. “Cladtek will continue integrating sustainability principles into its business, from waste reduction to renewable energy use, while minimising its carbon footprint,” she stated in a press release on 1 May 2024.
The event involved Cladtek employees and representatives from JOB Pertamina–Medco E&P Tomori Sulawesi (JOB Tomori), who planted mangrove seedlings and removed plastic waste. “We are pleased to have many stakeholders join us in this initiative,” said Bionolla. Volunteers worked in small teams focusing on planting and waste management.
The programme concluded with a discussion on environmental challenges and solutions. The initiative also engaged local communities. JOB Tomori’s involvement highlighted the alignment of business and environmental responsibility. “We are glad to collaborate with Cladtek in contributing to sustainability,” said Ahmad Budiarjo, Project Manager of JOB Tomori.
Cladtek plans to continue similar initiatives for long-term environmental impact. The event was attended by representatives from the Batam Protected Forest Management Unit (KPHL), who acknowledged Cladtek’s commitment. “We support initiatives like this that benefit the environment and encourage community participation,” said Kesuma Wijaya from KPHL Batam.
Government representatives from Batam’s Environmental Agency, the Directorate General of Marine and Fisheries Resource Surveillance (PSDKP), and the Sei Beduk sub-district office also attended, supporting the collaboration between private and public sectors in environmental conservation.
Cladtek remains committed to sustainability and will continue efforts to reduce environmental impact.
