Cladtek, the largest supplier of weld cladding and a leader in mechanically lined pipes (MLP), will participate in the SPT (Subsea Pipeline Technology) Congress on September 21 and 22 in London. The event is one of the industry’s main meetings, addressing innovations in submarine pipelines, flexible pipes, and risers. This edition will feature the participation of Engineering Director Tiago Kaspary, who will present the company’s work in the production of MLP, and discuss the challenges overcome in implementing this process in the market.

In his presentation, Tiago will highlight Cladtek’s significant differentiators in the MLP manufacturing process, such as the largest range of diameters, with a track record of 4 to 24 inches and an installed capacity of 32 inches, as well as the flexibility of supply with plants in Brazil and Indonesia. Cladtek’s MLPs represent a significant advance in the clad pipe industry, offering an innovative solution for conducting oil and gas in corrosive environments. Tiago noted that Cladtek is the only supplier in its class presenting work at SPT.

“We have an open and collaborative approach. We understand that it is important to be engaged with the industry so that we can contribute to solving its challenges, continue developing our product, and implement innovations. Participating in technical discussion forums such as SPT, or Rio Pipeline, which we participated in last month, allows for greater interaction with our stakeholders: operators, installers, suppliers, engineers, and certifiers,” he said.

Driving innovation in the metal coatings industry

Cladtek’s participation in the SPT Congress underscores its commitment to driving innovation in the metal coatings industry. The company has been recognized for its continuous investment in research and development, as well as for its strategic partnerships, which enable the delivery of customized and high-quality solutions to its customers. In Brazil, the company is engaged in conducting technical feasibility tests of alternative alloys for the manufacture of liners and MLP.

“We have been collaborating with Petrobras for at least three years in development on this topic. Among other new technologies, I can mention Connected Pipeline and Upset-End MLP, which are development programs created globally but with direct applicability in Brazil, particularly in the Pre-Salt, due to their synergy with MLP and local particularities. We are actively seeking joint development programs for the application of these technologies,” highlighted Tiago Kaspary.
